I moved to New York City in 1998 to go to graduate school for music. I went to CUNY Brooklyn College where I met my mentor in classical piano German Diez and studied contemporary music with Tania Leon. Many of my experiences are rooted in this time.
I’ve produced and performed several solo and group concerts at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and Greenwich House Music School. I’ve presented music by Nicanor Abelardo, Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Debussy, de Falla, Guastavino, Lecuona, Joaquin Nin, Piazzolla, Ravel, Satie, Villa-Lobos.
I’ve worked with Brooklyn New Music Collective and Anti-Social Music to present new music by many NYC based composers—most recently Max Duykers’ “End of String” written for piano four hands and accordion.
I’ve collaborated with composer/sound artist Paul Steven Ray in various projects lead by Ray. in 2008 as the Ray-Rosas Project, we recorded and released Still Readings — an album of original compositions that came out of our years of playing and improvising music together. Our duo has performed at Shapeshifter Lab, I-beam, the original Galapagos Art Space, and St. Mark’s Church.
Since 2015 I have been focused on writing and singing songs, many inspired by my family’s history. My songs are about intimacy and connection — with each other, with oneself, with the natural world, and the present. I began writing songs when I was in high school, inspired by a close friend who wrote songs. My songwriting then and now is a way of processing what’s past, learning and looking forward. Performing my songs at open mics around the city, I thankfully found the Christopher Street Coffeehouse at St. John’s Church—a favorite spot to share new work. I’ve also played my songs at the Knitting Factory and Brooklyn Music Studio.
I maintain an independent teaching studio in Brooklyn, NY and teach piano at Greenwich House Music School.
